Who can use Showcase

Showcase is for people 18 and over. You join with a Google account, and either a friend's invite or by connecting Showcase from an assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT. One account per person, and you look after your own Google sign-in.

Showcase is growing a step at a time, so it takes a limited number of people. When it's full, or while sign-ups are paused, new people can't join until there's room; an invite doesn't guarantee a place. Showcase is free, and we'll tell you before that ever changes.

What you post stays yours

Your list, your takes, notes, lists, photos and messages stay yours. You give us permission to store them, show them to the people your privacy setting allows, and copy or resize them as the app needs to, only to run Showcase. That permission ends when you delete them or your account, except for copies other people already made, such as a title a friend added to their own list.

You're responsible for what you post, and you need the right to post it. Please don't post or send anything that:

• breaks the law or someone else's rights, such as copyright;
• harasses, threatens or demeans someone;
• is sexual, violent or hateful content aimed at someone;
• pretends to be someone you're not;
• is spam or advertising.

And please don't try to break into Showcase, overload it, get around its limits, make accounts with scripts, or collect other people's information from it.

Reporting and blocking

If someone's behaviour bothers you, open their profile, tap the menu, and choose Report or Block; a post's menu has Report too. Reports go to Showcase's admins only; the person isn't told who sent one. A block means you and they no longer see each other anywhere on Showcase; undo it at Settings → People → Blocked people.

Copyright

If you think something on Showcase copies your work without your permission, write to our support address (coming soon) with: what the work is, where it is on Showcase, how to reach you, a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't allowed, a statement that what you've told us is accurate and that you own the work or act for its owner, and your signature (typing your name is fine). We'll take it down and tell the person who posted it, who can reply. We close the accounts of people who do this again and again.

The assistant can be wrong

Showcase's assistant is an AI. It can get facts wrong, such as release dates, where something is streaming, or details of a plot, and it can misunderstand what you asked. Check anything that matters before you rely on it. What you ask it is sent to the AI model provider to write the answer, as the privacy policy says.

Using Showcase from Claude or ChatGPT

When you connect Showcase to an assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT, that assistant acts on your Showcase account for you: it can search and change your list and lists, follow people and send us feedback. What it does there counts as done by you. Your conversation with that assistant is covered by its own company's terms and privacy policy, not these. You can disconnect it at any time in that assistant's settings.

Titles, images and other services

Details and artwork for movies, shows, games, podcasts and books come from services such as TMDB and IGDB, and belong to their owners. Where to watch comes from JustWatch and can be out of date. Links to other sites and apps are theirs, under their own terms.

Leaving, and when we close an account

You can leave whenever you like: Settings → Your data → Delete account deletes your account at once. What happens to your data is in the privacy policy.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts other people at risk, or puts Showcase at risk; suspending signs it out everywhere. Where we can, we'll say why, and you can write to us if you think we got it wrong. We may also change or stop parts of Showcase, or Showcase itself; if we ever shut it down, we'll give you notice and time to download your data.

No guarantees

Showcase is provided as it is and as available. We work to keep it running and your data safe, but we can't promise it will always be available, free of mistakes, or suited to a particular purpose.

As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data, that come from using Showcase, and because Showcase is free our total liability to you is limited to $100. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not apply to you, and nothing here takes away rights the law gives you that can't be signed away.

Changes, the law and questions

When these terms change, the date at the top changes with it; if a change matters, we'll tell you in the app first. Carrying on using Showcase means you accept the new version. Showcase is run from the United States, and US law applies to these terms. If a part of them can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
